Natascha Schmitten

Natascha Schmitten (born in Bonn in 1986) studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 2006 to 2014 and became a master student of Siegfried Anzinger in 2012. In her complex paintings, she creates light-flooded pictorial spaces that oscillate between abstraction and reality. She creates her works with ink, acrylic and oil paint on frames covered with nylon fabric.

At the end of 2024, Ralph Goertz visited the artist in her Cologne studio and documented the creation process of a large-format work. In a long interview, Schmitten gave unusually candid insights into her working methods and way of thinking.
