Gerhard Richter

Gerhard Richter is the most significant living artist. In February 2012 he celebrated his 80th birthday. Congratulations!

Gerhard Richter became famous in the 1960s/70s with its slightly blurred, unsharp paintings as a reminiscent of photorealism. Until now, the Cologne-based artist is reinventing itself with each new series. Although his paintings are sold at high prices, the artist stands by his modesty.

We were allowed to accompany the artist during the set up of its retrospective exhibitions in Bonn (1993), Düsseldorf (2005) and Museum Folkwang Essen (2017).
