Thomas Ruff

The photo artist Thomas Ruff is internationally best known since the 1980th by his large format portraits. With series like Portraits, Interieurs, JPEGS, Nudes, Streets and Stars he always tried to reflect the media of photography itself.

Now he counts as one of the most important photo artist in contemporary art.

Since 2010 the filmmaker and curator Ralph Goertz was allowed to accompany the artist with his camera. A documentary (50min.) has been published with Walther Koening Books in 2013. The film has been invited to several film festivals in Toronto, Calgary, Firenze, Dublin, Krakow and the Foto Biennale in Ballarat, Australia.
